The Benedictine Mission

Wimmer Priory was founded in 1964. The main work of the monks was to
teach at the newly-re-established Fu Jen Catholic University, which
originally had been founded by the Benedictines of St. Vincent Archabbey
in 1924. This educational work of the Wimmer Priory monks continues
until the present. The Priory also provides housing for a group of
students from Fu Jen Catholic University. From almost the beginning,
the monks were also involved with parish work, which is another activity
of Wimmer Priory. In recent years, with the opening up of Mainland
China, the monks have become involved with being of assistance to the
Church in China.
